Decipher, Inc. and New Line Cinemas have launched The Lord of the Rings Fan Club Official Movie Magazine, a magazine about the movie for members of The Lord of the Rings Fan Club. Decipher also runs the Fan Club and produces The Lord of the Rings trading card games.

The new magazine features insider interviews with the trilogy's creators and stars, and behind- the-scenes looks at the special effects and artistry that made the film a reality. The first issue of the bimonthly magazine, which is now on its way to fan club members, includes interviews with Peter Jackson, Elijah Wood, and Sean Astin as well as profiles of Alan Lee and Richard Taylor, two of the major creative forces behind the films. The first issue features the film's hero, Frodo (Elijah Wood), the Fan Club's first member, on the cover. The second issue will feature Ian McKellan (Gandalf) on the cover and will include an in-depth interview with the actor.

"The Lord of the Rings Fan Club brings together fans of Peter Jackson's historic cinematic rendering of Middle-earth, something many Tolkien fans have been awaiting for years," says Dan Madsen, Vice President of Decipher's Fan Club Studio. "The Fan Club Official Movie Magazine gives fans a behind-the- scenes look at The Fellowship of the Ring as well as the two movies still to come."

Jackson tells the new magazine that the set of Bag End in Hobbiton was "so comfortable ... I fully intend to put it inside a hill somewhere. I don't know where yet, but I'll find a nice hillside and put Bag End inside the hill and create a little hobbit hole as a home away from home."

The Lord of the Rings Fan Club Official Movie Magazine is a delivered to Fan Club members and won't be available on newsstands. Members also receive a 10% discount at the Fan Club's online store, fan mail forwarding service, and other services. The cost for a one-year regular membership is $29.95 US.
