Lycos Acquires WiseWire

Lycos, Inc. acquired WiseWire Corporation and its proprietary technology for directory-building on the Internet. With WiseWire Lycos' directory is built automatically using a combination of user feedback and intelligent agent technology.
Users searching with Lycos will benefit from Lycos' new integrated search results page which features categories found in the WiseWire-powered directory - each containing links to top sites as ranked by Web users - followed by websites found by the Lycos Web spider. Within the search results page, Lycos also provides matching websites from Tripod featuring personal homepages from like-minded surfers.
