Lycos Teams With MountainZone.com to Provide Coverage of Mount Everest

Lycos, Inc. and MountainZone.com a provider of mountain sports information on the Internet, announced a deal to bring Internet coverage of the upcoming Mount Everest climb directly to Lycos users. The deal is a co-branded sponsorship, giving visitors to Lycos' site access to the adventures of the 1998 American Everest Expedition.

Mountain Zone.com will provide visitors with daily reports from the climb. These communications will be conducted via satellite telephone provided by MountainZone.com and carried by the climbers throughout their journey. Coverage of the Everest climb is available now on the Lycos site and will continue throughout the climbers' attempt at the summit on May 11, 1998.

MountainZone.com, which provides content, community and commerce on a variety of mountain sports including mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding and climbing, will receive high visibility promotion on Lycos in the Sports Web Guide, one of the most visited area of Lycos.
