McGraw-Hill Appoints Robert E. Evanson President Of Educational and Professional Publishing Group

The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc. has named Robert E. Evanson president of its Educational and Professional Publishing Group, effective January 1, 2000. Evanson succeeds Jack E. Witmer, who is retiring after 30 years of service to the Corporation. Mr. Evanson will lead the continued expansion of The McGraw-Hill Companies' educational and professional publishing businesses.

"Bob Evanson's management experience and track record in our Educational and Professional Publishing Group make him extremely well-prepared to assume the leadership of this important business segment," said Harold McGraw III, president and chief executive officer of The McGraw-Hill Companies. "He successfully directed the integration of the Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Publishing Company and the Times-Mirror Higher Education Group acquisitions, and has led our global expansion."

Evanson joined The McGraw-Hill Companies in 1992 when the company began its Macmillan/McGraw-Hill joint publishing venture. He has served in positions of increasing responsibility including executive vice president of Corporate Development, and president of the Higher Education and Consumer Group. Before joining The McGraw-Hill Companies, Evanson held various posts at Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, including chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Evanson is a CPA and holds a BA from St. John's University and a MBA from New York Institute of Technology.
