McGraw-Hill Education Launches EBook Initiative

Posted on January 11, 2001

McGraw-Hill Education and WizeUp Digital Textbooks announced an initiative to electronically publish, sell and distribute digital textbooks for the higher education market. For the spring 2001 semester, about 20 of McGraw-Hill Education's leading higher education textbooks in business and psychology will be available in this format. Students will be able to view the McGraw-Hill Education titles via the Web with password-protected access or download the book directly to their computer.

The password-protected, web accessible WizeUp titles integrate seamlessly into course management technology systems, such as Web CT and Blackboard, and allow the professor to link the textbook content to classroom presentation materials. WizeUp software includes such features as: search capabilities, in-context note-taking and notes management tools, custom hyperlinking, bookmarking and electronic highlighting capabilities. Digital textbooks in the WizeUp format can also be downloaded from the Internet.

"Our alliance with WizeUp aligns with McGraw-Hill Education's goal to bring technology based learning solutions to the higher education marketplace," said Ed Stanford, president of McGraw-Hill Higher Education. "WizeUp products offer robust functionality for students and effective copyright protection for the publisher, which answers the changing needs of the higher education market."

"WizeUp.com is proud to contribute to the advancement of higher education with the one of the world's leading higher-education publisher, McGraw-Hill Education," said David Gray, CEO of WizeUp.com. "Students will enrich their studies with the powerful combination of McGraw-Hill Education's most recognized content and WizeUp's e-learning tools, allowing students to study more efficiently and productively."
