Medscape Launches Journal Scan

Posted on November 17, 1998

Medscape, a professional medical site, has launched a new feature, Journal Scan, to help rescue physicians from information flood.

Journal Scan is the clinician's guide to the most relevant articles in the current medical literature. Every week the editors and editorial advisory boards at Medscape review the top journals in various specialties. They summarize the findings of those articles that affect the way medicine is practiced or turn a corner in medical research.

Physicians can now find Journal Scans in Medscape's primary care, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics and respiratory care specialty home pages from publications like the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Journal of American Board of Family Practice, Clinical Orthopedics and Journal of Clinical Oncology.

"Our editors quickly digest, filter and summarize the leading medical publications so that physicians don't have to sort through thousands of articles to determine what is of interest or of value. We recognize that physicians' time is precious, and Journal Scan helps busy clinicians minimize the number of hours they must spend to keep current," comments Stephen Smith, Editorial Director. "With the addition of Journal Scan," Smith adds, "our coverage of the most significant medical literature offerings is complete."
