Meredith Corporation Announces Shop Online

Posted on June 14, 1999

Meredith Corporation, a home and family publisher, has announced an integrated publishing program entitled Shop Online. Scheduled to debut in mid-October 1999, Shop Online is being created to enable, encourage and guide Meredith magazine readers to become Internet consumers in the 1999 holiday season.

"Meredith's service journalism empowers readers to take action. Our research for this project told us that most of our potential customers are either already shopping online or will be soon," says Joseph Lagani, publishing director of the project. "E-commerce marketers are looking for ways to brand themselves in time for the holiday shopping season. We are offering them almost 13 million great prospects in a perfect editorial environment with virtually no waste."

The program will launch with the publication of Shop Online magazine, an approximately 80-page holiday Internet buying guide. Editorial features, to be written by a staff of contributing Internet journalists, include 250 recommended sites for Internet shopping during the holiday season, 20 tips for a safe and successful experience and advice for comparison shopping.

Shop Online, with a designated circulation of 4.3 million and an audience of almost 13 million, will be delivered polybagged in specific subscription copies of the November and December issues of 10 selected Meredith magazines.
