MGM and Electronic Arts Announce New Agreement

Posted on February 9, 1998

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Electronic Arts, an interactive entertainment software company, have signed an international co-publishing agreement that will include at least the next four interactive games from MGM Interactive.

The partnership teams up the strong marketing and distribution of Electronic Arts with MGM's high-profile content. Electronic Arts (EA) will be the exclusive distributor of MGM Interactive's titles in all territories except North America. The agreement covers the PlayStation(TM) and PC CD-ROM titles from MGM, initially to include the eagerly awaited WarGames, Return Fire II and the next James Bond project under license from Danjaq LLC and Eon Productions, following on the theatrical success of Tomorrow Never Dies.

The first title to be released under this new partnership will be MGM's much anticipated WarGames for the PlayStation and Windows(R) 95 CD-ROM. WarGames is the modern follow up to the classic MGM film of the same name, and combines revolutionary 3D technology and the most advanced artificial intelligence to simulate a real theater of war. This product will be followed by Return Fire II, a multi-player 3D action strategy title and sequel to the critically-acclaimed original, and Rollerball, a futuristic fighting sports game based on the movie of the same name.
