Acquires Milblogging Military Blog Directory

Posted on January 18, 2006 has acquired, a directory of over 1,150 military blogs, and added it to its network of military-related websites. Milblogging was started by Spc. Jean Paul Borda, an Operation Enduring Freedom veteran. Borda blogged from Afghanistan in 2004-2005 and started after returning from deployment. organizes milblogs by rank, gender, country, branch and language as well as alphabetically. They run an annual contest for milblogs called the Milbloggie. They also do a great job of finding new milblogs each week.

Christopher Michel, President and founder of, said in the announcement, "This move is part of our ongoing efforts to identify emerging technologies and innovations that connect and inform the community, including soldier-journalism. Our bringing the highly popular blog on board in 2004 demonstrated the power of hosting a world-class blog along side a thriving online community."
