Miller Freeman Adds Verecom to Electronics Portfolio

Posted on February 2, 1999

Miller Freeman, Inc. has acquired The Verecom Group Inc. of Mountain View, CA, publisher of Integrated Systems Design (ISD) and Silicon Strategies, and producer of the annual Silicon Strategies Conference.

"Verecom's properties are important additions to our electronics portfolio," noted Donna Esposito, vice president of MFI's Electronics Group, "because their emphasis on chip design complements the focus our existing publications and trade shows have on the design of the software that runs on those chips. With the addition of Verecom's properties, Miller Freeman covers both the hardware and software sides of the embedded systems market."

"The audiences of ISD and Silicon Strategies are involved in some of the fastest growing sectors of the electronics markets," said MFI President Don Pazour, "because they focus on systems on a chip, highly integrated ICs, electronic design automation (EDA), semiconductor technologies, intellectual property, and design methodologies.

Jonah McLeod, VP of editorial for Verecom and a driving force behind the development of the Silicon Strategies magazine and conference, will also be joining MFI. The company's post-acquisition Electronics Group staff will rise to 60 employees.

MFI's electronics portfolio of publications includes Embedded Systems Programming, Communication Systems Design, Multimedia Systems Design, Windows CE Tech Journal, Circuits Assembly, PC FAB, and Printed Circuit Design magazines. Existing exhibitions and conferences include Digital Signal Processing World and ICSPAT, DSP World Spring Design, the Embedded Systems Fall and Spring shows, High-Density Interconnect, and the Printed Circuit Board Design East and West shows.
