Mothers Who Think Debuts On Salon

Posted on June 17, 1997

Salon magazine (http://www.salonmagazine.com), a leading on-line magazine, has announced the launch of Mothers Who Think, a new parenting department which debuts on June 16. Updated with new editorial every weekday, Mothers Who Think offers mothers a place for intelligent discussion, with thought-provoking writing that looks at motherhood in all of its dimensions and how it reshapes the lives of women, challenging their sense of selves and relationships with the world at large.

"Salon constantly looks for new editorial areas that will appeal to readers who aren't already on-line by providing information that cannot be found in traditional print publications. With Salon's large base of women readers, Mothers Who Think is the magazine's next natural extension, integrating smart, edgy parenting journalism into our current mix of arts, entertainment and ideas," said David Talbot, founder, editor and CEO of Salon.

"Mothers Who Think readers also have the unique opportunity to participate in interactive bulletin board discussions on Salon's popular reader forum Table Talk, giving them the chance to share parenting tips and suggestions with a vast number of readers around the world."

During its first week, Mothers Who Think will feature an interview with Mary Matalin; a tribute to Bill Nye, the Science Guy; a poem by Sharon Olds; and a column by Salon regular Anne Lamott. Mothers Who Think is edited by Camille Peri, a former contributing editor at Hippocrates magazine and a former editor at the San Francisco Examiner Sunday magazine, Women's Sports magazine and San Francisco Magazine.
