Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., Time Inc. and Advance Publications Inc. have announced the creation of a new television network and website partnering TBS, Inc., Time Inc. and Conde Nast in a coordinated, cross-business media strategy targeting women. The strategy reaches across divisions of the three corporations to leverage TBS, Inc.'s television and online programming and the editorial resources of Time Inc. and Conde Nast magazines and websites covering style, fashion, beauty, entertaining, travel, food, parenting and other lifestyle features. The women's network and website will launch in early 2000.

"Women represent the fastest-growing Internet population and a television audience that remains underserved," said Pat Mitchell, president of CNN Productions and Time Inc. Television, who will helm the new television service. "The new network will provide a destination exclusively for smart, active women seeking relevant content and community."

The network will offer branded programming reflecting the landscape of women's lives today. In tone and execution both on the network and online, the new service will further a sense of community among women through interaction on wide-ranging subject matter featuring network personalities and experts.

Mitchell currently heads the production unit of the CNN News Group. She also serves as executive in charge of production for the CNN series CNN and Fortune and CNN and Entertainment Weekly. A veteran television journalist and executive, Mitchell headed VU Productions, a creator of reality series, specials and documentaries. She was the creator, producer and host of the nationally syndicated, Emmy-winning Woman to Woman and went on to report for and host NBC's Today, CBS Sunday Morning and ABC's Home.
