Olive Garden Announces Writing Contest for Children

From now through November 30, children ages 7 to 16 are invited to enter the third annual Olive Garden Pasta Tales national essay writing contest designed to encourage creativity and improve writing skills. Young writers must describe in 250 words or less what they would do to make their city great.

Entries are judged on creativity, organization, grammar, punctuation and spelling by the Quill and Scroll Society of the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Iowa. The grand prize winner receives a trip to New York, dinner at the Olive Garden in Times Square and a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond. A winner chosen in each age category receives a $250 U.S. Savings Bond and dinner at their local Olive Garden.

Entry forms are available at local Olive Garden restaurants. Entries must include the writer's name, address, zip code, area code and phone number, and age. Entries must be postmarked by November 30 and sent to Pasta Tales, Olive Garden, 5900 Lake Ellenor Drive, Orlando, Florida, 32809.
