Out Names Tom Beer Executive Editor

Henry E. Scott, president and editorial director of Out Publishing, Inc., has announced the appointment of Tom Beer to the position of executive editor for OUT, a national gay and lesbian publication.

Beer was formerly a deputy editor at OUT. He has been with the magazine since 1994 and has held the positions of assistant managing editor and managing editor. As executive editor Beer will report to Scott and be in charge of day-to-day content decisions at the magazine. Beer began his editorial career at Bantam Books in 1990, where he was last editor and has written for Poz and Salon. He is a graduate of Carleton College.

"Tom has been an outstanding member of the editorial team for five years and has done an exceptional job in keeping the magazine in focus and in touch with our readers," said Scott. "His strong commitment to the magazine and the gay and lesbian community makes him an important part of our vision for OUT."
