Peterson And NFL Team Up To Form NFL Insider Magazine

Petersen Publishing and NFL Properties, Inc., have reached an agreement to launch a 1 million circulation magazine called NFL Insider Magazine. The new magazine for football fans will kick off with the first issue on newsstands September 1st, at a cover price of $3.99. Special versions of Insider will be sold at NFL games as part of the game program. The publishing season will culminate in January with the Super Bowl XXXIV edition . In 2000 NFL Insider Magazine will be published eight times, with monthly issues throughout the NFL season.

John Wiebusch 'will be the magazine's Editor-in-Chief, bringing more than 28 years of NFL experience as the Editor-in-Chief and creative force behind a dozen magazine titles and hundreds of books. Wiebusch is editor of the NFL's current publications NFL Kickoff, NFL First and Goal and Super Bowl Game Program. Tom Barnidge, lead editor for many major NFL titles, will be the magazine's Executive Editor. He was formerly editor of The Sporting News.

Petersen will form a wholly owned subsidiary to publish and distribute the magazine to newsstands and subscribers, under license from NFL Properties. The subsidiary will operate as a separate business unit within Petersen, under the leadership of Mark Goldsmith, Vice President and Executive Publisher of Petersen's Sports Group, Gib Chapman, Sports Group Publisher and Norb Garrett, Editor-in-Chief of Sport magazine. Garrett also will serve as a member of the Editorial Board of NFL Insider Magazine.
