Richard H. Gilman Named Publisher of The Boston Globe

The New York Times Company has announced that Richard H. Gilman, senior vice president of operations of The New York Times, has been named publisher of The Boston Globe. Mr. Gilman succeeds Benjamin B. Taylor, who will continue as chairman of the Globe Newspaper Company Board. The announcement was made by Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., chairman of The New York Times Company.
Mr. Gilman commented: "Boston is justifiably proud of its newspaper. The Globe is an important institution and one of great American newspapers. I am pleased to become a part of it. I have a great deal of respect for Ben, and look forward to his ongoing advice and counsel. The Globe has some of the most talented people in the newspaper business and together we can reach even greater heights."
Richard H. Gilman earned a B.A. degree in government and journalism from the University of Arizona in 1972. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1983.
