Posted on July 2, 1999

Risk Publications of London has agreed to acquire the publishing business of New York-based Waters Information Services. The newly enlarged company will publish a range of magazines, news services, journals, books and reference works -- in both print and electronic form -- and will produce conferences, exhibitions and training courses throughout the world. Waters will become a division of Risk Publications, which overall will employ approximately 200 staff worldwide, with offices in the UK, USA and Hong Kong.

Dennis Waters, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Waters will join the board of FEL as Director of Strategic Development. Peter Field, Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Risk Publications, will continue to be Chairman of the board. Other board members are Mark Kemp, Group Managing Director, Mike Frost, Finance Director, and Christopher Wilkins, Non-Executive Director.

Peter Field, Risk Publications' Chairman, said, "It's a great deal for us. Waters has a fantastic franchise in the financial technology sector, which we think we can develop further. And technology is a natural extension of our existing product areas." Dennis Waters, WIS Chairman, said, "The logic behind the business combination is compelling. Risk and Waters together have the resources and talent to develop our products to provide greater service and value to customers of both companies."
