Scholastic Executive Joins Space.com

Space.com's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mitchell Cannold has announced the appointment of Emily Sachar, former Editorial Director for Scholastic's Classroom Magazine Division, to the company's management team. As Vice President of Content and Executive Editor, Sachar is responsible for all news and science coverage. She will oversee the site's editorial development; lead Space.com's news team; and build entertainment, games and science fiction editorial teams.

"Emily has spearheaded the creation, redesign and editorial direction of several of the most recognized, visited and successful educational news web sites and magazines for kids and teens," said Cannold. "Her extensive Internet development, editorial and managerial experience will secure Space.com's position as the leading space site on the web."

Sachar joins Space.com from Scholastic Inc. where she served as Editorial Director/Classroom Magazine Division for the past three years. While at Scholastic, she led major web development and editorial projects including. Prior to joining Scholastic, Sachar was an award-winning reporter and columnist at New York Newsday for 14 years. She received multiple honors including a Pulitzer Prize for local reporting.
