Scripps Howard Foundation Names National Journalism Award Judges

The Scripps Howard Foundation has announced the names of 29 distinguished media professionals who will be judging its 1997 National Journalism Awards.

The Foundation, which broadened the scope of its awards competition this year, is accepting entries in newspaper and broadcast journalism, distinguished service and college cartoonist categories. The deadlines for all entries is Jan. 31, with one exception. The deadline for the Charles M. Schulz Award for college cartoonists is Jan. 9.

Cash awards totaling more than $40,000 will be presented March 26 during a banquet in Knoxville, Tenn., home of The Knoxville News-Sentinel, Home & Garden Television and Cinetel Productions, operating units of The E.W. Scripps Company, which hosts the banquet.
