Stephen Newman Named to Head Primedia's Business Information Units

Curtis A. Thompson, president and chief executive officer of the Primedia Business & Information Group, a unit of Primedia Inc., has announced that R. Stephen Newman, 55, will become president and chief executive officer of Primedia's newly-consolidated information units. Newman is currently president and chief executive officer of Bacon's Information, a Primedia company. Alan Glass, 49, currently president and chief executive officer of Primedia Information, Inc. is being named chief operating officer and president of publishing of the new unit.

"Today's move brings two very capable executives together who will add efficiency to operations and leverage infrastructure and management resources in order to enhance growth opportunities," said Thompson. "Both Steve and Alan have long, distinguished careers in the information business and make a terrific team to manage the electronic evolution in the information segment."

The new unit, to be called Primedia Information, Inc., will include Bacon's Information, Federal Sources, Inc., IntelliChoice, Primedia Directories and Simba Information.

Newman has spent the last eight years as president and chief executive officer of Bacon's Information. Prior to joining Primedia, Newman served for eight years as president of MGI Corporation, a computer services provider, and for 10 years as vice president of consulting for Planmetrics Inc., a planning consulting firm. Newman holds a bachelor's degree from Lewis University and an MBA from Northern Illinois University.
