Posted on October 28, 1998

The Petersen Companies, Inc., publishers of Teen magazine, and Ideas Publishing Group, an international Spanish-language publishing company, announced today that they have entered into a long-term licensing agreement to launch Teen magazine in Spanish.

The first issue will be available on newsstands in March 1999, and will be distributed monthly in 22 Latin American countries and the United States. The magazine's title in the U.S. will be Teen en espanol, and there will be specific regional editions created for Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Columbia, with in-market titles for each such as Teen Argentina and Teen Mexico. The regional editions, including those in the U.S., will feature popular Latin celebrities and include local information for each region.

"We are excited to be working with a proven company like Ideas Publishing Group which has the ability to reach the Teenage audience in the high-growth region of Latin America," said Claeys Bahrenburg, Vice Chairman of The Petersen Companies. "This will not only extend Teen's reach to the region, but Teen en espanol will become an important medium in the U.S. Hispanic market. We look forward to publishing additional Petersen titles with Ideas Publishing Group in the future."

Headquartered in Miami, Ideas Publishing Group was established in 1995. It has more than 150 employees in nine countries, including the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Spain. Ideas Publishing Group publishes, under licensing agreements, some of the most popular and award-winning magazines in English, thus providing specialized publications that meet the needs and interests of the growing global Hispanic population. Currently, Ideas Publishing Group's Spanish-language magazine portfolio includes Glamour en espanol, Newsweek en espanol and Discover en espanol.
