The Atlantic Monthly Announces New Publisher

The Atlantic Monthly has announced the promotion of Donna Palmer as Publisher of the monthly journal. Palmer will be succeeding Bill Holiber who was recently named Co-Publisher of U.S. News and World Report. Matt Barba will be filling the Associate Publisher position made vacant by Ms. Palmer. Both promotions were effective November 1st.

"Donna and Matt bring to their respective positions outstanding sales leadership skills as well as a keen appreciation of The Atlantic Monthly's unique role in American journalism. We are indebted to Bill Holiber for his successful leadership during the past year and wish him well at U.S. News," said John Fox Sullivan, President and Group Publisher for the The Atlantic Monthly and National Journal.

Donna Palmer has been with The Atlantic Monthly for eleven years, beginning her career with the magazine in advertising sales. She was promoted to Associate Publisher in June 1998 and is based in New York. Born in Washington, D.C., Palmer received her B.A. from Northwestern University and began her career in advertising sales with Barron's Business and Financial Weekly.

Matt Barba has been the Eastern Sales Manager for the Monthly since 1988. Barba was born in Los Angeles and has his B.S. from Rutgers University. He began his sales career with Burrelle's Information Services, and moved to Travel and Leisure as their Western Sales Manager before coming to The Atlantic Monthly.

The Atlantic Monthly was purchased by David Bradley, chairman of the National Journal Group, in September. Editor-in-chief of National Journal, Michael Kelly, will become editor of The Atlantic Monthly and National Journal president, publisher and CEO. John Fox Sullivan, was named president and group publisher of the Monthly.
