The Knot and Weddingpages Get Hitched

Posted on July 16, 1999

The Knot, a wedding website and gift registry, and Weddingpages, a publisher of regional wedding magazines, have announced a strategic alliance. Under the terms of this agreement The Knot and Weddingpages.com will merge the look and feel of their sites. Through this partnership, The Knot will have access to the directory of local wedding professionals already on Weddingpages.com. In turn, Weddingpages will be able to reach The Knot's millions of users.

"At The Knot, we want to be the ultimate resource for every aspect of wedding planning. Because most planning and purchasing takes place on the local level, it was crucial for us to be ahead of the curve in that area," says David Liu, CEO of The Knot. "Other wedding sites out there offer what is essentially `yellow pages,' some of which do not specifically cater to brides and grooms. By partnering with Weddingpages, The Knot becomes the only national wedding website to have a walking sales force in 52 cities and to offer access to local vendors whose real business is devoted entirely to to-be-weds. This alliance reinforces our position as the most comprehensive wedding destination on the Internet."

Initially, The Knot and Weddingpages.com will link to one another. In the near future, The Knot will be providing Weddingpages.com with a new design similar to its own, which will help to create a seamless localized extension of TheKnot.com. In addition, The Knot's website will be promoted throughout each of the Weddingpages editions.
