Posted on July 1, 1999

VertiNews.com, Inc., an Internet company that specializes in coverage, compilation and delivery of news and research information for professionals, will be launched in mid-August, according to William L. Dunn, chairman of the new firm. VertiNews.com, Dunn said, will serve so-called vertical, or sharply defined, markets typified by specific industries and professional fields.

Dunn described VertiNews.com as "a fee-based, forward-looking, on-line business news and research company capitalizing on Internet technology." He added that VertiNews.com will tailor its on-line products "to meet the requirements of busy professionals and business executives, who increasingly must have the ability to specify the news and research information they want to receive and to be able to get everything they require from a single source and site."

Dunn said VertiNews.com has secured $1.2 million in financing to develop its first vertical product, which will focus on coverage of the commercial real estate industry. Directing the commercial real estate venture will be Orest Mandzy, until recently the head of Commercial Mortgage Alert, a respected industry newsletter. Dunn added that more specific information concerning the commercial real estate service will be made available in mid- July.

VertiNews.com was founded by Dunn and four other former executives at Dow Jones & Co., the New York-based publishing concern. Dunn was executive vice president of Dow Jones and is a former senior vice president of America Online, Inc., Dulles, Va.
