Vivendi Universal Publishing Launches Education.com

Posted on February 12, 2001

Vivendi Universal Publishing, which has 22,000 staff members worldwide, launched its international education portal, Education.com, with a $25 million investment supporting the new brand. Launched simultaneously in the United States and Europe, education.com can be accessed in three different languages -- English, French and German -- with a Spanish version slated to debut later this year. The website targets three distinct audiences -- parents, children ages three to 12 and teachers.

``Education.com is an exciting endeavor for Vivendi Universal,'' said Agnes Touraine, vice president and managing director of Vivendi Universal Publishing. ``We envision parents, children and teachers embracing the portal as a user-friendly daily resource, positively impacting the learning experience and elevating students' success in school.''

Education.com offers three customised channels: KidSpace, OurFamily Space and TeachSpace. The website provides content and provides support for kids, parents and teachers to interact. Education.com also offers teachers classroom materials, curricula and reproducibles to help in preparing lesson plans.

Education.com is the brainchild of Knowledge Adventure, software developers who provide education solutions to parents and kids through more than 100 software titles in a wide range of subjects. The site also has sister sites in France, Germany, Ireland and England.
