Web Design Author Lynda Weinman Obtains Own Imprin

Posted on October 8, 1999

Lynda Weinman, a teacher and well known best-selling author of Web design books, has announced the introduction of her own imprint under a new publishing alliance with Peachpit Press. The new lynda.com/books imprint will launch a series of Hand-On Training (H.O.T.) books featuring hands-on lessons and step-by-step exercises that will demonstrate Web design techniques. Each book in the series will also include a color section and CD-ROM containing sample graphics tutorial files for the projects, QuickTime movies showing the techniques and demo software.

"As much as I love writing books, my first love is teaching," Lynda said. "Having always developed my own curricula, it was a natural extension of my skills and interests that lead me to develop a new series of hands-on training books. The new series of H.O.T. books is geared towards people who "learn by doing", and will fill a void in the marketplace as very few computer books are written by teachers with materials that have been classroom tested. Obtaining my own imprint was always a desire, but one that I didn't know I would be able to attain."

Weinman is a renowned teacher, author, and lecturer on Web design. She has taught at Art Center College of Design, San Francisco State Multimedia Studies Program, UCLA, and the American Film Institute. Her books on Web design have sold over 100,000 copies in the U.S., and have been translated into French, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Chinese, German and Japanese.
