Posted on August 4, 1998
Publishers John Wiley & Sons, Inc., and SAS Institute Inc. announced a deal to jointly publish a series of "how-to" manuals in the statistical sciences. The first, due first quarter 1999, is on multivariate statistics using SAS(R) software. Additional volumes will cover topics such as data analysis, experimental design, linear models, regression, survival analysis, and time series. The manuals targeting both industrial and educational customers alike - will include real-world issues to illustrate concepts. Under the agreement, both companies will share editorial input and decision making, while the Institute coordinates production and Wiley oversees the manufacturing.
"SAS Institute is a leader in data analysis, and data-mining software, and Wiley is a leading publisher in these important subject areas, so ours is a collaboration of substance," said Kathy Council, SAS Institute's Vice President of Publications. "As organizations continue to analyze ever-increasing volumes of data, the need for instructional materials on the many analytical techniques also grows. Students and business people who use SAS software and read Wiley books will be the best equipped and best informed for turning data into information." Steve Quigley, Executive Editor for Statistics in the Wiley Interscience Program, said, "We are pleased to be joining forces with SAS Institute. This agreement allows each of us to do what we do best."
