Wired Magazine Appoints New Editor in Chief and New Publisher

Wired Ventures Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Louis Rossetto announced the promotion of Editor at Large Katrina Heron to the post of Editor in Chief of Wired magazine. He also announced the appointment of Dana Lyon to Publisher, Wired magazine. Rossetto said he is relinquishing his titles as Editor in Chief and Publisher. He will assume the new title of Editorial Director for all of Wired Ventures as previously reported and will remain as the Company's CEO until a successor is in place. Rossetto will also continue as Chairman of the Board.

In her new role as Editor-In-Chief, Ms. Heron is responsible for the editorial and creative direction of Wired magazine. She will report to Editorial Director and CEO Rossetto. Before joining Wired, Heron was a senior editor at The New Yorker Magazine and a senior editor at Vanity Fair; she was part of a small team of editors who accompanied Tina Brown to The New Yorker in 1992. She also was a writer and editor at The New York Times Magazine from 1986 to 1990. She was a recipient of the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship in 1994-95.

Dana Lyon adds the title of Publisher to her existing duties as Vice President, Wired Magazine Group. As Publisher, she will become responsible for Wired magazine's bottom line profitability. Ms. Lyon will continue to report to Wired Ventures Inc. President Jane Metcalfe.

Lyon has been in publishing and advertising for 19 years. Before joining Wired, Lyon spent eight years at J. Walter Thompson, four years at American Express Publishing and five years at Conde Nast.
